As always, she leaves you wondering what is next?

Nightbitch

I found this book amazing and so relatable. It's true about the brutality of motherhood and giving birth and many of us (my generation and older generations) were conditioned to accept this and not to discuss. I appreciate the authors attempt to make this known.

I Who Have Never Known Men

Pretty good existential book. Reads really well. There unfortunately isn't really any kind of closure or explanation at the end so if that bothers you, beware. But it's cool to explore the different themes this book explores, including what constitutes being human and the meaning of life, etc. The small questions.

The Light We Carry

Really enjoyed hearing her honest and heartfelt personal accounts of experiences and views on marriage, parenting and friendships. I appreciated her real expressions of dealing with self-doubt and often being the "only" in different spaces; along with how she handles stress and uncertainty. I really enjoyed this book. I'm going to put the morning encouraging self-talk and expressing "gladness" for others into practice immediately

The Silver Hills Boarding House

A second chance at love and a family in the West. Regardless of what others decide they should do, Gabe and Lizbet stand up to the town bully, also a rich pillar of the town. This bully thinks nothing of making things difficult for others as long as he gets what he wants. Very good story and a smooth, enjoyable read.

Unbound

Ali never misses. Whether it be one of her STEMinist contemporary romances or one of her supernatural sci-fi/ fantasy offerings, you can count on Ali Hazelwood to bring the spice, the drama, and the witty dialogue that make for an amazing story! Unbound was probably one of my favorite reads of the summer so far! The chemistry between Roman and Lilit was amazing. I could feel how much they wanted each other throughout the book and while that normally triggers "just get together you idiots" energy for me, it was well balanced enough to make the inevitable happily ever after feel earned. It was very fun to see more of the revenant world structure come to life in this book. Bound did a great job at setting up the world and its rules, so seeing them expanded upon in Unbound felt very exciting instead of coming off like a fact guide. Overall the book was perfectly balanced in its scenes of violence, romance, and humor. The pacing and length were perfect and while I always want more of Ali's work, I feel as though this book really knew its own constraints and gave me exactly what it needed to. I would recommend Unbound and Bound to readers of science fiction romance, vampire romance, and to those who enjoy Ali Hazelwood's other books.

A much needed break from all the trauma and drama this series has been giving me.
